Ariel Rodriguez,
was born in 1995 in the Ecuadorian valley of Baños. Moving to the United States as a child, Ariel grew up in the shadow of New York City, awed by the contrast of bustling urban life and it's estranged relationship to nature. Having experienced life in the very heart of nature, Ariel's work is a constant reflection on the human-centric view of nature within an urban context.
Her work,
as a self-taught artist is rooted in the belief that a playful life immersed in nature allows the spirit to express its truest self. Her artwork invites the viewer to observe color and shape through the child-like wonder which we often lack in our everyday lives. It asks the viewer to slow down, see the mundane with fresh eyes and reconnect with the pulse of life that runs through all living beings.
Originally,
she graduated from Pratt Institute, NY with a bachelors degree in Interior Design and finds painting as a fulfilling way to express her love of color and texture. She continues to practice architecture and is currently taking a masters at the Royal Danish Academy in addition to painting in her home studio in Christianshavn.
